Miami football 5 most recent commits would be 52nd ranked class
The five most recent commits to the 2023 Miami football program would be the 52nd-ranked class on their own. Miami has added five blue-chip commits since four-star quarterback Jaden Rashada committed to the Hurricanes on June 26. Miami has vaulted from the 40s into the top 10 2023 recruiting classes overall.
After Rashada, Miami has added four-star prospects, wide receiver Nathaniel Joseph on June 28, cornerback Robert Stafford on June 30, tight end Riley Williams on July 1 and five-star offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa on July 4. Four-star WR Robby Washington was the only previous 2023 Miami blue-chip commit.
Mario Cristobal and his staff have done a great job of adding elite talent in a short period of time. Miami added elite local talent with Joseph and recruited nationally with the other four. Rashada is from the Bay Area, Stafford from Melbourne, Florida, Williams originally Portland, Oregon and Mauigoa American Samoa.
Mauigoa and Williams will play for IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida this year. Miami signed four-star tight end Jaleel Skinner in the Class of 2022 from IMG. Cristobal is keeping true to his word when he was hired about emphasizing South Florida while also recruiting elite talent nationally.
Miami should continue to rise in the 2023 national recruiting rankings. Several elite Miami prospects are committing in the next few weeks. Five-star edge rusher Jayden Wayne, four-star safety Jayden Bonsu and three-star offensive tackle Tommy Kinsler are trending to Miami. Wayne will announce his commitment on July 9.
Bonsu will announce his commitment on July 20. Kinsler does not yet have a commitment date. After getting off to a slow start with mostly three-star commits, the Miami football staff has been blazing in the last nine days. Rashada openly recruited the other commits via Twitter. The courting appears to have paid off.
The expected commitment from Wayne on Friday would vault Miami into the top five ahead of Penn State based on the current recruiting standings. Cristobal was hired in part to bring more consistency to Miami in recruiting. In less than seven months, Miami has gained dozens of commitments from elite talent.
