The latest surge on the recruiting trail has the Miami football program a sneaky one to watch according to Steve Wiltfong of 247 Sports. Miami has received commitments from five blue-chip prospects since June 26. Five-star offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa was the latest commit to Miami on July 4.

Miami currently has the 10th ranked 2023 recruiting class following the commitment from Mauigoa. The five blue-chip commitments have pushed Miami to a handful of four-star commits and Mauigoa is currently the sole five-star. Miami should continue to move up the 2023 class rankings later this week.

Five-Star edge rusher Jayden Wayne is announcing his commitment on Saturday and is expected to choose Miami. A commitment from Wayne would move Miami up to sixth in the 2023 Class rankings between Penn State and Arkansas. Mario Cristobal and his staff are making Miami a major player in recruiting.

Miami could be on pace to sign three five-star prospects in the same class since 2008 when the Hurricanes signed the top class in the country. Five-star wide receiver Jalen Brown is also trending to Miami with a Friday commitment. Miami should have its highest-ranked class since 2018 when they finished eighth.

"“We also have a couple sneaky programs to keep an eye on like Miami…Miami moved into the Top10 of the 247Sports Rankings after landing five-star offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa and the country’s No. 2 tight end Riley Williams over Independence Day weekend.Mario Cristobal and his staff are in the middle of it for several other elite prospects including five-stars Cormani McClain and Samson Okunlola and Top247 edge rusher Jayden Wayne. They’ll be an intriguing follow as the cycle continues.”"

Notre Dame has the highest-ranked 2023 class currently. Texas A&M who Miami plays on September 17 signed the highest ranked 2022 class. In addition to McClain, Okulola and Wayne another name to watch is four-star safety Jayden Bonsu. Bonsu announces his commitment on July 20 and is trending to Miami.

After a slow start, the 2023 Miami recruiting class has been blazing in the last 10 days. The Miami football program should continue its momentum through July with the expected commitments from Bonsu and Wayne and potentially more. The potential is there for some late flips near Early National Signing Day in December.
