Miami Hurricanes WR prospect Jalen Brown announcing commitment Friday
Top Miami Hurricanes five-star wide receiver prospect Jalen Brown will announce his commitment at 6 p.m. ET throughout his social media channels on Friday. The Gulliver Prep star is the 29th ranked player, fourth WR and eighth in Florida in the Class of 2023. Brown would be the second five-star prospect to commit for 2023.
Five-star offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa committed to Miami on July 4. Mauigoa is the only commit to Miami higher ranked than Brown. Miami is the consensus favorite to receive a commitment from Brown via 247 Sports, On3 and Rivals.Com. Florida State, LSU, Michigan and Texas A&M are the other finalists for Brown.
In addition to the official visits to LSU and Michigan in June, Brown has visited Florida State, Miami and Texas. Brown told 247 Sports he is considering the Miami Hurricanes as a hometown fan that grew up watching them. Brown likes what head coach Mario Cristobal is doing with the program and he can represent his home city.
Brown would be the third WR committed to Miami in the Class of 2023. Miami previously has commitments from four-star WRs Nathaniel Joseph and Robby Washington. Brown has 89 receptions for 1,995 yards and 22 touchdowns in three seasons with Gulliver. Brown had a breakout 2023 junior season.
Brown had 56 receptions for 1,033 yards with 11 TDs and 245 return yards in 2021. Brown has been lauded for his speed with a 10.66 second 100 meters and 21.36 second 200. Andrew Ivins of 247 Sports evaluated Brown as a “vertical playmaker… more of a natural on the outside in a modern pro-style attack.”
His speed, route running and hands are where Brown is graded the highest from 247 Sports. Miami is building an elite WR class. The Hurricanes are young at WR entering the 2022 season. All of the Miami scholarship WRs have eligibility remaining after the 2022 season. Miami should have excellent WR depth entering the 2023 season.
