Miami football favored for 5-star OT Samson Okunlola commitment
The Miami football program leads for a commitment from five-star offensive tackle Samson Okunlola according to On3.Com. Okunlola would be the second five-star OT committed to Miami in the 2023 class. Francis Mauigoa committed to Miami on July 4. Mario Cristobal and Miami are building an elite 2023 offensive line class.
In addition to Mauigoa, Miami has commitments from three-star offensive linemen Frankie Tinilau and Antonio Tripp. Miami is trending for OTs, three-star prospect Tommy Kinsler and four-star Payton Kirkland per On3. Okunlola is the 16th ranked player, third OT and the top player in Massachusetts in the Class of 2023.
According to On3 Okunlola is one of 11 uncommitted five-star players in the Class of 2023. Miami is the prohibitive favorite to receive a commitment from Okunlola. Okunlola took official visits to Alabama, Miami and Michigan State in June. Florida and Virginia have each received two unofficial visits from Okunlola.
Miami currently has the seventh-ranked class per the On consensus rankings. A commitment from Okunlola would move Miami into the top five depending on commitment and de-commitments from other programs. Clemson is the only ACC program with a higher-ranked 2023 recruiting class.

Drew Schott of On3 provided the above information on Okunlola in an article about “Uncommitted 2023 five-star recruits trending to top programs.” Signing two five-star offensive linemen in the same class would be unprecedented for Miami. Mario Cristobal is building an elite OL for Miami in the future.
With Zion Nelson expected to move onto the NFL following the 2022 season and D.J. Scaife in his final season of eligibility, Maiugoa and Okunlola would have an opportunity to compete to be the starting OTs for Miami in 2023. As he promised, Cristobal is quickly upgrading the talent on the Hurricanes’ OL.
Okunlola would be the second-highest ranked player to commit to Miami in the 2023 class. Mauigoa is the 10th ranked player, second OT and second in Florida in the Class of 2023. Cristobal and the Miami football staff are building much-needed depth on the Miami OL for the future.
