The Miami football program leads for four-star offensive tackle Olaus Alinen who announced a commitment date of July 22 on Friday. The three major recruiting services, 247 Sports, On3 and Rivals all project Alinen, a Finnish native to commit to Miami. Alinen would continue an impressive 2023 Miami Class of offensive linemen.

Five-star offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa committed to Miami on July 4. Mauigoa was preceded by three-star OL Frankie Tinilau and Antonio Tripp. Alinen is the 123rd-ranked player, 15th OT and top-ranked prospect in Connecticut for 2023 per the 247 Sports composite rankings. Miami should close July strong with the 2023 class.

Four-star safety Jayden Bonsu is expected to commit to Miami  July 20. Miami is also expected to be the choice for four-star linebacker Malik Bryant on July 23. The Hurricanes are also in the running for five-star safety Joenel Aguero and four-star OT Payton Kirkland who will also announce their commitments on July 23.

Three crystal balls were logged by 247 Sports projecting that Alinen will commit to Miami. On3 and Rivals each project Miami with an 80 percent chance for a commitment from Alinen. Alinen took official visits to Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State and Oregon in June. Those five are the finalists listed by Olinen.

The Miami football program could have an unprecedented 2023 OL class. Five-star OT Samson Okunlola is also favoring Miami. Miami could have an entire OL in one class. If Miami signs Alinen, Mauigoa and Okunlola one of them will have to move inside. Alinen seems the most likely. It’s a good problem for Miami to have.

As a former OL, head coach Mario Cristobal and position coach Alex Mirabal have made a positive impression on prospects. The chance to play for a head coach who played OL at a high level in college has made an impression on recruits. Miami is trending towards signing a top-five 2023 recruiting class.
