Top 2023 Miami football commit offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa received praise from Charles Power the director of scouting and rankings for On3 after his performance at the Under Armour Future 50 on Saturday. Mauigoa who committed to Miami on July 4 is the 10th ranked player second OT and second in Florida for 2023.

At 6’5, 327 pounds, Mauigoa has a chance to succeed Zion Nelson as the Miami left tackle as a true freshman in 2023. Nelson will likely leave for the NFL following the 2023 season with one year of eligibility remaining. Mauigoa leads what could be an unprecedented 2023 Miami offensive line class.

Eight OL are participating in the Future 50. Four-star OL Olaus Alinen is trending to the Miami football program ahead of his July 22 commitment announcement. Four-star tight end Riley Williams is the other Miami commit participating at the Future 50. Miami is also trending for five-star OT Samson Okunlola.

Okunlola is the 16th-ranked player and third OT in the Class of 2023. Mauigoa, quarterback Jaden Rashada and edge rusher Jayden Wayne are Miami commits who rank in the On3 top 50 players for 2023. Power was impressed with the performance that Mauigoa had on Saturday at the Future 50.

"“Miami commitment Francis Mauigoa is the most physically impressive lineman at the event…Lot of big bodies on the OL here, not many developmental types and most are well over 300 pounds…Mauigoa carries the weight the best and has the lightest feet of the group. – Charles Power, Director of Scouting and Rankings”"

In addition to Mauigoa and the potential of receiving commitments from Alinen and Okunlola, Miami has commitments from three-star OL Frankie Tinilau and Antonio Tripp. Bookends of Mauigoa and Okunlola projects for an exceptional Miami OL of the future. Alinen would be the most likely to move inside.

The athleticism that Mauioga has been credited with at his size is impressive. Mario Cristobal made upgrading the OL a priority when he was hired in December. Cristobal and OL coach Alex Mirabal have done an exceptional job adding talent to the Miami offensive line in just over seven months.
