Miami football OL prospect Olaus Alinen trending to Alabama
Up until earlier this week, four-star Finnish offensive line prospect Olaus Alinen was trending to the Miami football program. Alinen began trending to Alabama earlier this week. All six 247 Sports crystal balls logged for Alinen project him to commit to Alabama. Previously one crystal ball projected Alinen to Miami.
Alabama has the lead for Alinen with a projected 71.9 percent chance for a commitment according to On3.Com. Miami is at 21.6 percent. Rivals gives Alabama a 78 percent chance for a commitment from Alinen. Miami currently has three OL committed to the 2023 Class, which includes five-star tackle Francis Mauigoa.
Three-star OL Frankie Tinilau and Antonio Tripp are also committed to Miami. Alinen is ranked as the 122nd player, 14th OT and the top player in Connecticut in the Class of 2023 by 247 Sports. The On3 rankings have Alinen 120th, 11th and first. Rivals ranks 134th, 12th and first. Alinen is likely a long-term prospect.
Mauigoa has the potential to start as a true freshman in 2023. Zion Nelson will likely leave for the 2023 NFL Draft foregoing his final season of eligibility. Miami will definitely lose D.J. Scaife who is in his last year of eligibility in 2022. Miami is currently trending for five-star OT Samson Okunlola who has not set a commitment date.
Brian Dohn the 247 Sports national recruiting analyst said in his scouting report of Alinen “multi-year starter at high-level college program. Mid round NFL draft potential with ability to improve stock with continued development.” Alinen is currently projected as a fourth to seventh round NFL Draft pick.
Alinen is 6’5, 325 pounds with 33-inch arms per On3. In June Alinen took official visits to Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State and Oregon. Alinen and his family spent extra time in South Florida following his visit with the Miami football program. Miami began trending after that visit, but it appears he will commit to Alabama on Friday.
