Miami football big weekend of prospect commitment announcements

After losing out on four-star offensive lineman Olaus Alinen to Alabama on Friday, the Miami football program awaits the commitment announcement of several other prospects this weekend. Four-star prospects, safety Joenel Aguero, linebacker Malik Bryant and OL Payton Kirkland will commit publically on Saturday.

Aguero will commit on Saturday at 8:00 AM eastern time. All five 247 Sports crystal balls project Aguero to sign with Georgia. Georgia has an 80.7 percent chance for a commitment from Aguero and Miami is at 15.4 percent according to On3. Aguero is rated as the 34th best prospect, third safety and second in Georgia for 2023.

Bryant is the most likely of the three to commit to Miami. According to the 247 Sports composite rankings, Bryant is the 57th overall prospect, fourth LB and 15th in Florida in the Class of 2023. All five crystal balls project Bryant to commit to Miami. The On3 prediction machine lists Miami. Miami is at 87.4 percent for a Bryant commitment.

Kirkland is trending to Michigan State. Five of the seven crystal balls logged for Kirkland project a commitment to the Spartans. Michigan State has a 49.4 percent chance for a commitment from Kirkland, Texas 32.8 percent and Florida12.7 percent per On3. Miami appears to be out of the running for Kirkland.

Pending potential other commitments, the 2023 Miami recruiting class would move from 11th to fifth with a commitment from Bryant. Bryant would be the third LB committed to the Miami football program for 2023. Three-star Bobby Washington and four-star Raul Aguirre are the other LBs committed to Miami for 2023.

Three-star OL Tommy Kinsler who will make his commitment announcement on July 28 is expected to choose Miami. Despite losing out on Alinen, head coach Mario Cristobal and OL coach Alex Mirabal are building a special OL in the class of 2023. Miami has three previous commitments on the OL for 2023.

Five-star offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa and three-star OL prospects Frankie Tinilau who is listed as an OT and interior OL Antonio Tripp have previously committed to Miami. Five-star OT Samson Okunlola who has not announced a commitment date is also trending to Miami. Miami will have one of the best 2023 OL classes.
