Miami football gets commitment from 4-star LB Malik Bryant
After having to wait four extra days, the Miami football program received a commitment from four-star linebacker Malik Bryant. Bryant was initially scheduled to announce his commitment on Saturday but decided to push it back. After some time to reconsider, Bryant announced on Tuesday he was committing on Wednesday.
The commitment from Bryant moved the 2023 Miami recruiting class from 11th to seventh in the 247 Sports composite rankings. Bryant is the third LB committed to the Miami football program for 2023. Miami received a commitment from three-star LB Bobby Washington in March and four-star Raul Aguirre earlier this month.
Miami primarily beat out Florida for a commitment from Bryant. Miami co-defensive coordinator and LB coach Charlie Strong led the recruitment for Bryant. The Hurricanes now have 15 commitments for 2023 overall with five on defense. Miami is missing a defensive tackle and safety commit for 2023.
The Hurricanes received commitments earlier this summer from cornerback Robert Stafford and edge rusher Jayden Wayne. Bryant is the fourth highest-rated commit to Miami overall and the second on defense behind Wayne. Bryant is the 61st ranked recruit, fourth LB and 15th in Florida in the Class of 2023.

Bryant is the ninth blue chip commitment for Miami out of 15 in the Class of 2023. The commitment from Bryant is the first for Miami since Aguirre on July 12. Miami has upgraded the talent at LB since Mario Cristobal was hired in December. Bryant is the third four-star LB to commit or sign with Miami since December.
Four-star LB Wesley Bissainthe signed with Miami in the Class of 2022. Miami also added productive LB Caleb Johnson as a transfer from UCLA during the 2022 offseason. Johnson is projected to be the starting middle LB for Miami in 2022. Miami also has four-star 2021 signee Chase Smith at LB.

Miami now has commitments from two of the top 10 LBs in the Class of 2023. Aguirre is the 10th-ranked LB for 2023. Miami now has five top 10 100 commits for 2023 according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Wayne is the only other 2023 Miami commit on defense ranked in the top 100, he’s 43rd overall.
