Miami football 2023 class has multiple top 10 players at their position

The 2023 Miami football recruiting class has seven commits who are in the top 10 at their position. The 2023 recruiting class is led by Francis Mauigoa who is a five-star prospect that is the sixth-ranked player, top offensive tackle and second-ranked player in Florida. Six different position groups are represented.

In addition to Mauigoa, Miami commits in the top 10 at their position are edge rusher Jayden Wayne, quarterback Jaden Rashada, linebackers Raul Aguirre and Malik Bryant, tight end Riley Williams and athlete Robert Stafford who is projected to play cornerback for the Hurricanes.

The 2022 Miami class had only edge rusher Cyrus Moss, tight end Jaleel Skinner, running back Tre’Vonte Citizen and athlete Chris Graves, who like Stafford is projected to play CB, as signees ranked in the top 10 at their position. In less than eight months, Mario Cristobal has made a significant impact in recruiting.

The last full class Cristobal had at Oregon in 2021 had 10 signees ranked in the top 10 at their position. Cristobal has proven he is an elite recruiter beginning when became an assistant at Alabama in 2013. Cristobal has spoken about his experience under Nick Saban being the football equivalent to earning a PH.D.

Miami could add other 2023 signees ranked in the top 10 at their position. Five-star prospect Samson Okunlola is the third-ranked OT in 2023 and trending to Miami but without a commitment date. Rueben Bain who is the 10th ranked defensive lineman for 2023 is also trending to Miami without a commitment date.

The last Miami class to sign prior to the arrival of Cristobal as head coach had five players ranked in the top 10 at their position nationally in 2021. That included kicker Andres Borreagales. Cristobal and his staff are slowly upgrading the talent on the Miami football roster. Miami also added 11 transfers during the 2022 offseason.

Miami had the 13th most talented roster in college football in 2021 according to 247 Sports. Those numbers should increase when the 2022 roster rankings are released. Entering 2023 Miami should continue to climb the roster rankings. Cristobal emphasizes recruiting and only hires coaches who can match his intensity.
