Miami football at Texas A&M projected week 3 ESPN Gameday location

The Miami football game at Texas A&M was chosen by 247 Sports as the week three location on September 17 for ESPN College Game Day. Miami has not been featured ESPN College Game Day site since October 10, 2020, at Clemson. Miami began the 2020 season with three College Game appearances in the first four weeks.

Miami holds a 2-1 lead all-time versus Texas A&M. The Hurricanes defeated the Aggies in a home-and-home in 2007 and 2008 the last time the teams played. Miami is coming off of a 7-5 2021 season that led to hiring Mario Cristobal as head coach. Texas A&M was 8-4 last season including a win over Alabama.

Miami will begin the season with home games versus Bethune-Cookman and Southern Mississippi. Texas A&M opens with games versus Sam Houston State and Appalachian State at Kyle Field. Miami defeated Appalachian State 25-23 in 2021. Miami quarterbacks coach Frank Ponce was the Mountaineers’ offensive coordinator.

Texas A&M opened the season ranked sixth in the AP Top 25 released on Thursday. Miami is ranked 16th by the AP. Number 25 Brigham Young at 11th ranked Oregon is the only other game between preseason ranked teams for week three. Clemson and Pittsburgh are the other preseason-ranked teams Miami plays in 2022.

In a season with a lot of expectations, the Miami football team should have a few opportunities to be considered for ESPN College Gameday. The Hurricanes should improve on a disappointing 2021 season that Miami finished unranked after beginning the season ranked 21st. Miami Fans are excited to begin the Cristobal era.
