Steven Schrum, the Manager of Scouting Logistics and Personnel for the Miami football program has been recognized with other staffers nationally. Schrum was named to “On3’s 2022 rising star personnel and recruiting staffers you need to know.” Mario Cristobal hired Schrum earlier this year.

Schrum began his career as an Equipment Manager and Student Assistant for Running Backs at the University of Maryland while also working as a scouting intern with the Baltimore Ravens during the summer of 2010. Baltimore also employed Schrum as a scouting intern during the summer of 2012.

Schrum has extensive experience working at Power Five programs with stints at Florida, Northwestern, Syracuse and Wisconsin. Schrum graduated from Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in U.S. History and Political Science in 2014. Mario Cristobal has hired an elite football staff throughout, not just the coaches.

According to Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U Schrum helped managed the NFL Roster boards and scouting depth charts with football analytics. Schrum has experienced the work necessary to be a part of a championship organization. Schrum was on the Ravens staff that included Ed Reed as a player that won Superbowl XLVII.

"Steven Schrum, MiamiPosition: Manager of scouting logistics and personnel+ Hired in May.+ Spent last season as a personnel assistant at Wisconsin after three seasons as director of player personnel at Kent State+ Was a recruiting quality control staffer at Syracuse before heading to Kent State"

Mario Cristobal has repeatedly stated throughout the offseason that he wants the Miami staff as motivated and passionate about recruiting as he is. Recruiting takes an entire program. The coaches and personnel staff have to be dedicated to recruiting. That’s even more true now with the transfer portal.

Knowing the rosters of other college football programs are now as important as professional personnel departments knowing the other 31 NFL rosters. Schrum will be a key member of the Miami staff helping with scout potential talent that fits the Miami football program. Having Schrum recognized nationally is good for Miami.
