Miami Hurricanes quarterback Tyler Van Dyke is eighth in the CBS Sports “College Football QB Power Rankings…”  Van Dyke returns after having a breakout 2021 season in nine starts. Throughout the 2022 offseason, Van Dyke has been praised and is projected as a consensus 2023 first-round NFL Draft pick.

Tyler Van Dyke will lead the Miami offense under new coordinator Josh Gattis in 2021. Gattis will not lean on Van Dyke as much as the Miami offense did in 2021. Expect a more balanced offensive system under Gattis than his predecessor Rhett Lashlee. Van Dyke has praised Gattis for running a more complicated offense.

Defending Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young of Alabama and C.J. Stroud of Ohio State are substantially above the other college football QBs entering the 2022 season from the consensus among analysts and writers nationally. Van Dyke is second among ACC QBs in the CBS Sports QB power rankings.

Devin Leary, the Preseason ACC Player of the Year, is the sixth-ranked QB in the CBS Sports rankings. Young is the top-ranked QB, Stroud second, then Grayson McCall of Coastal Carolina, Caleb Williams of USC, Hendon Hooker of Tennessee and Dillon Gabriel of Oklahoma are the QBs ahead of Van Dyke.

"Tyler Van Dyke MIAMI (FL) HURRICANES QB“Don’t be surprised to see Van Dyke climb these rankings higher than you believe he has any right to be as the season goes, because I love him. He’ll probably enter the 2023 season as the player draftniks project as the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.Van Dyke has the prototypical size and arm strength with enough mobility to survive an NFL pass rush. The only hope is Mario Cristobal doesn’t put the same unexplainable leash on him that he did Justin Herbert at Oregon.”"

The analysis from Tom Fornelli of CBS Sports varies from the consensus among college football writers that Van Dyke will return in 2023 and enter the 2024 NFL Draft. Van Dyke has two years of eligibility remaining beyond 2022. Another elite season in 2022 projects Van Dyke as a consensus 2023 NFL first round draft pick.

dark. Next. Tyler Van Dyke Heisman longshot worth closer look

Van Dyke climbing up the CBS Sports QB power rankings will likely be influenced significantly by his performances at Texas A&M on September 17 and Clemson on November 19. The nation will be paying the closest attention to Miami in those games. Van Dyke has prototypical NFL size at 6’4 and 225 pounds.
