The Miami football team will begin the Mario Cristobal era on Saturday when they host Bethune-Cookman at Hard Rock Stadium. Miami has never lost a home opener in 14 years at Hard Rock Stadium. Miami is 5-0 all-time versus Bethune-Cookman with a median margin of victory of 31 points.

The Hurricanes have not opened a season versus an FCS opponent since a 41–13 victory over the Wildcats in 2017. Miami begins the Cristobal era with 12 transfers new to the roster. Five transfers could start for Miami on defense. Cristobal focused on the defensive line adding five new transfers.

On offense Miami added offensive linemen Jonathan Denis and Logan Sagapolu from Oregon, running back Henry Parrish from Mississippi and wide receiver Frank Ladson from Clemson as transfers on offense for 2022. Ladson and Parrish are candidates to start versus Bethune-Cookman.

Miami will be without RBs Don Chaney Jr. and Tre’Vonte Citzen versus Bethune-Cookman. Offensive tackle Zion Nelson is expected to be out or at least limited on Saturday. Reports broke earlier this week that sophomore WR Jacolby George could be suspended for an unknown reason.

With 28 players new to the Miami football team including the freshman class playing Bethune-Cookman is an ideal opener. The entire team will have a chance to get acclimated to each other and the new defensive and offensive systems in a game Miami is expected to win easily. The entire Miami roster should receive snaps.

Next. As expected Miami doesn't release depth chart versus Bethune-Cookman. dark

Saturday is a chance for the Miami football team to build momentum as they begin the Cristobal era. One of the late things to watch as Miami takes the field is who will start on Saturday. The Hurricanes did not release a depth chart in the game notes. Cristobal has kept information tight during training camp.
