Miami football versus Southern Mississippi: Game, live stream and injury information
The Miami football team will host Southern Mississippi on Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium. Miami began the 2022 season with a 70-13 victory over Bethune-Cookman. Southern Mississippi had a heartbreaking 29-27 four-overtime loss in their season opener at home last Saturday.
Miami football legacy running back Frank Gore Jr. returns to South Florida to play his first game against the program where his father was a star. Gore. Jr. ran for a career-high 178 yards and two touchdowns in the Southern Mississippi loss last week. Gore Jr. will be the main focus of the Miami defense.
Southern Mississippi could be without starting quarterback Ty Keyes who is in concussion protocol after exiting last week against Liberty. Gore was one of four for 48 yards playing what Southern Miss calls the super back. Backup QB Trey Lowe was incomplete on his only pass attempt last week.
Miami appears to be getting healthier entering the game against Southern Mississippi. Offensive tackle Zion Nelson and running back Jaylan Knighton are expected to return against Southern Mississippi. Knighton and Nelson could have limited snaps versus the Golden Eagles.

Miami RB Don Chaney Jr. will also miss the game against Southern Mississippi with a hip injury. Chaney isn’t expected to return until near midseason. The injury to Keyes as previously stated but not mentioned in the report from Covers.Com is a concussion.
