Texas AM loss cost Miami football and Aggies College Gameday appearance
The loss by Texas A&M to Appalachian State on Saturday cost the Aggies the chance to host ESPN College Gameday on Saturday in College Station. The Miami football team would have also benefitted from being the primary focus of the top college football pregame show. College Gameday will be at Appalachian State.
Appalachian State is hosting Troy. The loss by the Aggies means that lead college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit will have to travel from Boone, North Carolina to College Station instead of appearing on College Gameday in the morning and then calling the Miami-Texas A&M game on Saturday night.
Chris Fowler, Herbstreit, Todd McShay and Holly Rowe will call Miami at Texas A&M with a 9 PM ET kickoff. ESPN will also broadcast an alternative view with its AT&T SkyCast & Command Center. Saturday is the first time the lead ABC/ESPN broadcast crew will call a Miami game since the 2021 season-opening loss to Alabama.
ABC will telecast Michigan State at Washington with a 7:30 PM ET kickoff. The ABC/ESPN lead announcing team usually broadcasts about half of the ABC college football primetime game throughout the season. Playing in the primetime window provides Miami with a chance to play in front of a nationally televised audience.
Miami began the season on the ACC Network in wins over Bethune-Cookman and Southern Mississippi. Middle Tennessee State plays at Miami next Saturday on the ACC Network with a 3:30 ET kickoff. Miami is off the weekend of October 1 before beginning ACC play versus North Carolina on October 8.
Game times and networks for the remainder of the 2022 Miami football schedule have not been set. All of the 2022 Miami football games are on Saturday. Fowler, Herbstreit and Rowe seem likely to call the Miami at Clemson game on November 19. College Gameday could be live from Clemson that morning.
