Miami football faces challenge versus Texas A&M after loss
The Miami football team faces a difficult challenge playing Texas A&M after the Aggies lost to Appalachian State last week. Texas A&M is 10-3 under Jimbo Fisher coming off of a loss. The three losses following a loss by Texas A&M under Fisher were to Auburn in 2018, number one LSU in 2019 and Mississippi State in 2021.
In the first season under Fisher in 2018, Texas A&M lost the second game of the season 28-26 to Clemson. Texas A&M followed up the loss to the Tigers with a 48-10 over Louisiana-Monroe. The week after defeating ULM, Texas A&M 45-23. The next week Texas A&M defeated Arkansas 24-17 in 2022.
The Texas A&M loss to Auburn in 2018 was preceded by a 28-13 defeat at Mississippi State. Texas A&M also played at Auburn. Texas A&M returned home after the loss to Auburn and defeated Mississippi 38-24. The win over Mississippi began a four-game winning streak for Texas A&M to end the 2018 season.
Texas A&M began the 2019 season 3-3 alternating wins and losses. Clemson defeated Texas A&M 24-10 in the second game of the 2019 season. Texas A&M followed up the loss to Clemson with a 62-3 win over FCS Lamar. Auburn defeated Texas A&M 28-20 for the second year in a row, this time on the Plains.

After the loss to Auburn, Texas A&M earned a 31-27 victory over Arkansas in Arlington, Texas. Alabama won 47-28 in College Station after Texas A&M defeated Arkansas. Texas A&M began a four-game winning streak after the loss to Auburn with a 24-17 victory over Mississippi. That pushed Texas A&M to 7-3.
The winning streak ended with a 19-13 loss at number four Georgia. Texas A&M suffered its second straight loss 50-7 at LSU. Texas A&M finished the 2019 season with a 24-21 win versus number 24 Oklahoma State in the Texas Bowl. The Aggies finished 2019 8-5 in the second year under Jimbo Fisher.
Texas A&M had its best season under Fisher in 2020 when they finished 9-1. The Aggies’ only loss was 52-24 at number two Alabama in the second game of the 2020 season. Texas A&M followed up the loss at Alabama with a 41-38 victory over number four Florida. The Aggies finished the 2020 season with eight straight wins.
Texas A&M suffered its first loss of 2021 20-10 to Arkansas in the Southwest Classic at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas in week three. Mississippi State defeated the Aggies 26-22 a week later. Texas A&M followed up the consecutive losses with a surprising 41-38 upset of Alabama at Kyle Field.
The win over Alabama was the first of four straight for Texas A&M. Number 12 Mississippi ended the four-game win streak for number 11 Texas A&M 29-19 in Oxford. Texas A&M had a gimmie a week later with a 52-3 victory over Prairie View who holds the all-time record with an 80-game losing streak from 1988-98.
Texas A&M finished the 2021 season with a 27-24 loss to LSU. Following the regular season, Texas A&M had to pull out of its bowl game versus Wake Forest due to covid. The Miami football team also had to opt out of its Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl appearance versus Washington State due to covid.

Jimbo Fisher should have the attention of Texas A&M as they host the Miami football team. Miami needs to be focused and not expect Texas A&M to have a similar performance to how they played versus Appalachian State. On prime time on ESPN expect the Aggies and Hurricanes to be ready.
