The ESPN Gameday crew other than Lee Corso picked Texas A&M to defeat the Miami football team on Saturday night at Kyle Field. Corso picked Miami as his super dog. Miami is a 6.5-point underdog per FanDuel. Desmond Howard Picked Texas A&M “since this is Coach Corso’s Super Dog I have to go with the Aggies.”

Since Kirk Herbstreit is calling the game for ESPN, he did not make a pick. The celebrity pick was country singer Luke Combs who also picked Texas A&M. Former NFL punter Pat McAfee also likes the Aggies. ESPN Gameday was in Boone, North Carolina on the campus of Appalachian State. David Pollack also likes Texas A&M.

Boone was chosen following the Appalachian State upset of Texas A&M last week. If Texas A&M had won Gameday would have broadcast live from College Station. Herbstreit would not have had to fly halfway across the country to call the Miami at Texas A&M game on Saturday night from Kyle Field.

The Miami football team still received a segment on Gameday with South Florida native Jorge Sedano profiling Hurricanes’ head coach Mario Cristobal. The pair discussed cafecito and what it means for Cristobal to coach at his alma mater. Cristobal also mentioned it took his 25-year coaching career to get back to Miami.

As part of the segment on Cristobal ESPN took a brief look at the five Hispanic head coaches in college football. Miami should have another opportunity to appear on Gameday later this season when the Hurricanes play at Clemson on November 19. The Hurricanes and Tigers could be a preview of the ACC Championship Game.

The Miami at Texas A&M moved from 5.5 to 6.5 likely because of the Hurricanes playing without leading reliever Xavier Restrepo and the Aggies making a change at quarterback. Texas A&M benched Haynes King who started the first two games of 2022 for LSU transfer Max Johnson who is Mark Richt’s nephew.
