Miami football at Texas AM late line shift and best prop bets
The announcement that the Miami football team will be without leading receiver Xavier Restrepo and Texas A&M changing quarterbacks has moved the line from 5.5 to 6.5 in favor of the Aggies. Texas A&M is starting LSU Max Johnson instead of Haynes King who started the first two games for the Aggies.
The Miami football team will need one of its receivers to increase production with Restrepo out indefinitely with a foot injury. Restrepo has 11 receptions for 172 yards and a touchdown this season. Brashard Smith is second on Miami with six receptions and Michael Redding II has the second most yards with 76.
Smith will replace Restrepo in the slot. Expect Smith and Key’Shawn Smith to be the leading candidates to receive the targets vacated by Restrepo at WR. The Miami football team needs more production from fifth-year senior tight end Will Mallory. Mallory has only two receptions for 23 yards this season.
King was an abysmal 13-20 for 97 yards without a TD or an interception last week in the 20-13 Texas A&M loss to Appalachian State. Texas A&M has been anemic at times on offense this season. Johnson had 27 TDs and six interceptions in 2021 as the starting QB for LSU and is the nephew of Mark Richt.
In what should be a low-scoring game the spread moving from 5.5 to 6.5 via FanDual should benefit Miami. Johnson played well at LSU In 2021 but has limited snaps with his Texas A&M teammates and in the Jimbo Fisher offense. Miami needs a better performance from Tyler Van Dyke than last week.
FanDuel has prop bets for who scores the first TD of the game and players who reach the end zone in general. Texas A&M running back Devon Achane is the favorite to score a TD and reach the end zone first. Achane is -145 to score a TD and +490 to have the first TD on Saturday night.
Miami running back Henry Parrish is the favorite for Miami in scoring the first TD and reaching the end zone. Parrish is the third favorite in the game to score a TD at +140. Parrish is the fourth favorite to score the first TD at +850. Fan Duel is heavy on the Aggies scoring the first TD and their players being more likely to score.
The Texas A&M offense has only five TDs in two games. Miami hasn’t faced great competition, but the Hurricanes have 13 TDs in the first two games against FCS and Sun Belt opponents. Texas A&M has also played an FCS and Sun Belt opponent. An early TD for Miami will help take the crowd out of the game.
