Miami football plummets barely staying in top 25

The Miami football team plummeted from 13th to 25th in both week four polls following a 17-9 loss at Texas A&M on Saturday night. Texas A&M passed Miami in the polls with the win over Miami. The Aggies are now 23rd in the Associated Press top 25 and 20th in the USA Today coaches poll.

Miami had the second biggest fall this week. Michigan State fell from 11th in the AP top 25 to 26th and out of the poll. The Spartans fell 12 spots to 21st in the USA Today coaches poll this week. Two remaining opponents on the 2022 Miami football schedule are ranked in the AP top 25.

Clemson is fifth in both polls and Pittsburgh is 24th in the coaches poll are the only other ranked opponents remaining on the 2022 Miami football schedule. North Carolina State who is 12th and 11th and Wake Forest 21st and 16th are the only other ACC teams ranked in the polls in week four.

Miami began the 2022 season ranked 16th in the AP top 25 and 17th USA Today Coaches poll. The Hurricanes moved up to 15th and 16 after their week one victory over Bethune-Cookman. Miami was 13th following its week two win over Southern Mississippi. The Hurricanes moved up two spots in the ESPN Football Power Index.

Miami is now 15th in the FPI. Texas A&M fell three spots in the FPI to 32nd following its victory over Miami. The FPI projected Miami with about a 53 percent chance to defeat Texas A&M. Miami is projected with better than a 50 percent chance to win every game this season except November 19 at Clemson.

Miami had a 20 percent chance to defeat Clemson in the FPI last week. Clemson now has a 75.8 percent chance to defeat Miami in November. Miami should bounce back on Saturday. The Hurricanes host Middle Tennessee State with a 94.4 percent chance to defeat the Blue Raiders.
