The Miami football team returns home to host Middle Tennessee State on Saturday with a 3:30 PM kickoff. Miami is 2-1 following a 17-9 loss at Texas A&M last Saturday. Middle Tennessee State is 2-1 after a 49-6 win over Tennessee State last Saturday. Miami enters the game as a 25.5-point favorite per FanDuel.

Middle Tennessee State defeated Miami in 1931 and ’32 in the two times the programs played. Miami last defeated a Conference USA team in 2020 in the season opener over UAB. After having national attention in prime time last week, the Miami football team returns to a regional focus this week.

Middle Tennessee State is the last 2022 non-conference game for Miami. Miami begins ACC play on October 8 versus North Carolina. The Hurricanes were 3-1 after a loss in 2021. Mario Cristobal led Oregon to a 2-0 record following a loss in 2021. Miami needs to put the Texas A&M game behind them on Saturday.

After struggling in the red zone during the loss to Texas A&M, Miami needs to convert its opportunities to touchdowns. Middle Tennessee State has an active defense that has created negative plays this season. Miami should dominate Middle Tennessee State on the line of scrimmage.

Miami suffered another blow to their receiving corps this week. Sophomore Jacolby George who made his season debut suffered an injured hand and is out indefinitely. Miami previously lost leading receiver Xavier Restrepo who is expected to be out for the next five to seven weeks.

According to Covers.Com, Middle Tennessee State does not have any injuries to report for Saturday’s game at Miami. Sophomore Romello Brinson and Clemon transfer Frank Ladon seem the most likely to receive more playing time at WR with Brinson and Restrepo out for a while.

Middle Tennessee State has been strong versus the run this season, but Miami should be able to wear the Blue Raiders down on the line of scrimmage.
