Miami football offers 4-star 2024 QB DJ Lagway

The Miami football program has offered four-star 2024 quarterback D.J. Lagway a scholarship. Lagway is the 30th-ranked player, fifth-ranked QB and fourth propect in Texas for 2024 per the 247 Sports composite rankings. Four-star safety Antoine Jackson and kicker Abram Murray are the only 2024 Miami commits.

Lagway provides excellent size at 6’2, 225 pounds and has been the starting QB for Willis, Texas High School since he was a sophomore. As a junior Lagway has shown significant improvement. Lagway completed 55.5 percent of his passes for 1,579 yards, 17 touchdowns and two interceptions with a 94.5 passer rating in 2021.

As a junior this season, Lagway has completed 63.5 percent of his pass attempts for 1,167 yards, 15 TDs, three interceptions, and a 126 passer rating. Lagway is a dual-threat QB. Lagway ran for 710 yards and six TDs in 2021 as a sophomore and has 299 and four TDs in five games this season.

Lagway has received about 30 offers thus far depending on the recruiting site. Texas A&M is the leader for Lagway according to On3 with a 65.9 percent chance to receive a commitment. Florida is second at 12.6 percent. This early in the recruiting process for Lagway, 247 Sports has not logged any crystal balls for Lagway.

Lagway is one of 12 QBs the Miami football program has offered for 2024 per 247 Sports. Three of the 2024 QBs offered by Miami are ranked higher than Lagway. That includes the top player in 2024, Dylan Raiola who is currently committed to Ohio State. Only three of the 12 QBs Miami has offered for 2024 are in Florida.

Four-star Auburn commit, Adrian Posse is from Hialeah, Mater Academy Charter, four-star Guillver Prep prospect Davi Belfort is uncommitted with Florida as the favorite per On3 and three-star Vero Beach signal caller Tyler Aaronson is committed to Rhett Lashlee and the SMU Mustangs.

Lagway is an excellent all-around athlete who also plays baseball and basketball and played safety as a freshman. Lagway’s father Derrick was a running back at Baylor from 1997 through 2001. Lagway has taken 13 unofficial visits to Power Five programs according to his On3 recruiting profile.
