Miami football and Virginia Tech have very different 3 game losing streaks

The Miami football team plays at Virginia Tech on Saturday with both teams having very different three-game losing streaks. Miami has been outscored 89-64 in their three-game losing streak to Texas A&M, Middle Tennessee State and North Carolina. Virginia Tech has been outscored 119-49 in losing three straight games.

The Hokies losses were to West Virginia, North Carolina and Pittsburgh. Virginia Tech lost 33-10 to West Virginia, 41-10 at North Carolina and 45-29 at Pittsburgh. Miami lost 17-9 at Texas A&M, 45-31 versus Middle Tennessee State and 27-24 versus North Carolina. Virginia Tech has had a complete team collapse in all three games.

The Hokies are 11th in the ACC in scoring and 10th in points allowed. Virginia Tech is 12th in the ACC In total offense, but sixth in total defense. The Hokies are tied for 12th and last in the ACC with a negative four turnover margin in its first six games. Miami is seventh in turnover margin at plus-one through five games.

Miami needs to get off to a good start. During its three-game losing streak, the Hurricanes have been outscored 34-6. including taking a 3-0 lead versus Southern Mississippi after one quarter, Miami has not scored a TD in the opening 15 minutes versus a 2022 Power Five opponent. Miami needs a strong start versus Virginia Tech.

Virginia Tech has been competitive to begin games with a deficit of 16 to nine in the first quarter during its three-game losing streak. The Hokies have collapsed in the second half during each of its games during the three-game losing streak. West Virginia outscored Virginia Tech 17-0 in the fourth quarter.
