Five-star 2023 cornerback Cormani McClain who is considering the Miami football program will announce his commitment on October 27 between 6-8 PM. Florida is the favorite to receive a commitment from McClain via 247 Sports and On3. The Miami football team remains in the mix behind Alabama and Florida.

All three crystal balls from 247 Sports project McClain to commit to Florida. On3 projects Florida with a 94.3 percent chance to receive a commitment from McClain. The Miami football program has a 1.6 percent chance to receive a commitment from McClain per On3. That is third with Alabama given a 2.0 percent chance.

The 247 Sports composite rankings and the On3 consensus list McClain as the second overall player, top CB and best player in Florida for 2023. McClain took an official visit to Miami in June and had unofficial visits in Coral Gables in January and September. Per On3, McClain has taken seven visits to Florida and two to Alabama.

Four-star prospect Robert Stafford is the only CB committed to Miami for 2023. Miami has some uncertainty at CB for 2023 and beyond. D.J. Ivey is the only senior CB on the 2022 Miami football roster. If Miami does not eventually sign another CB beyond Stafford they might have to go to the transfer portal to add depth.

Defensive backs coach Jahmile Addae and his predecessor and Miami analyst DeMarcus Van Dyke are leading the Hurricanes’ recruitment for McClain. Blake Alderman of Swamp 247 reported on Tuesday night that McClain growing tired of the recruitment process spurred his decision to commit next week.

McClain previously had a timeline in December to make his commitment announcement. At 6’2, 165 pounds, McClain has excellent length but will have to fill out in a strength and conditioning program in college. The 247 Sports scouting report praises McClain for his “foot speed, ball skills, instincts and competitive drive.”
