Five-star cornerback Cormani McClain shocked college football on Thursday night when he chose Miami. Miami football coaches and other 2023 commits reacted on Twitter with the news about McClain. McClain is the second-ranked player and top CB and prospect in Florida in the Class of 2023.
The commitment from McClain moved the 2023 Miami football class up to eighth nationally. Miami beat out Alabama and Florida who was the prohibitive favorite to receive a commitment from McClain. McClain is the second 2023 five-star prospect committed to Miami after offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa.
Miami is the only program ranked in the top 16 2023 classes with as few as 18 commits. The 2023 Hurricanes class ranks fifth nationally in the averaging rating per recruit among programs with at least 15 commits per David Lake of Inside the U. McClain is the second addition to the 2023 class this week.
Four-star defensive back Antione Jackson who was previously committed to Miami reclassified from 2024 to 2023. Jackson and McClain are joined in the secondary by four-star CB Robert Stafford as 2023 Miami commits. The commitment from McClain had social media buzzing on Thursday night.
