The Miami football team plays at Virginia on Saturday with losses in four of its last five games. Miami is a 2.5-point favorite with a total set at 48.5 per Fan Duel. Miami is 0-6 against the spread this season versus FBS opponents. The Miami and Virginia offenses have often struggled this season.

There are a few opportunities on Fan Duel beyond the point spread and total on Saturday, but mostly with Virginia. Virginia is 2-5 against the spread this season. The Cavaliers covered last week as a 3.5-point underdog in a 16-9 win at Georgia Tech and as a 9.5 underdog in a 22-20 loss at Syracuse last month.

The only Virginia game that has exceeded the over this season was a 34-17 Cavaliers loss to Louisville which had a total of 47.5. Four of the six Miami football games this season versus FBS have been under the total. Miami is 67th nationally averaging 29.3 points per game and Virginia is 123rd at 17.6.

Miami has another chance to turn its season around and earn its second straight ACC road win. Virginia is attempting to build on its win at Georgia Tech last week. It is still nearly impossible to trust Miami with the point spread this season. Miami will finish the season versus Florida State, Georgia Tech, Clemson and Pittsburgh.

Miami football at Virginia Best Bets for Week 8

The only player props are for Virginia quarterback Brennan Armstrong and wide receivers Keytaon Thompson and Dontayvion Wicks. Armstong has a total of 224.5 passing yards set for Saturday. Armstrong is averaging 231. passing yards per game. Miami allows 232.6 passing yards per game.

Armstrong should exceed 225 passing yards. Miami has a good run defense and Virginia struggles running. If the Cavaliers are going to be successful offensively it will have to be passing. Thompson has a total set at 70.5 receiving yards. Wicks is 59.5. Thompson averages 76.5 receiving yards per game and Wicks 59.4.

The numbers for Thompson and Wicks are tough to gauge. Those would be good prop bets to pass on Saturday. The remaining bets for Miami at Virginia are based on the point spread and total. Miami is favored by 0.5 points with the total at 23.5 in the first half. It’s best to stay away from both numbers.

Bets are available for points scored in each quarter as well. The best bet for Miami at Virginia is to take the over. Neither offense has proven the ability to consistently score and the total is likely to be under the 48.5 set by Fan Duel. Jake Garcia starting for an injured Tyler Van Dyke for Miami at QB is another uncertainty.
