After the best game of his collegiate career, defensive tackle Leonard Taylor earned the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week following the 14-12 win for the Miami football team at Virginia. Miami kicker Andres Borregales earned the ACC Kicker of the Week. The ACC also announced the kickoff time at Georgia Tech on November 12.

Taylor is the second Miami DL in the last two weeks to earn ACC Player of the Week. Akheem Mesidor earned ACC DL two weeks ago. Mesidor had eight tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks in the 20-14 Miami win at Virginia Tech on October 15. Borregales had four field goals in the Miami win over Virginia.

Borregales has made 14 of his 17 field goal attempts this season and all 25 extra points. The four field goals in a winning effort on Saturday was redemption for Borregales whose game-winning attempt in 2021 versus Virginia hit the upright on the final play. Taylor has 16 tackles, eight tackles for loss and three sacks in 2022.

Also on Monday, the ACC announced the kickoff times for the week 11 games. The Miami football team at Georgia Tech will kick off at 3:30 PM ET on November 12 on regional sports networks which will be Bally Sports in South Florida. Outside of South Florida, Miami at Georgia Tech will be streamed by ESPN 3.

"DEFENSIVE LINEMAN – Leonard Taylor III, Miami, DL, Miami, Fla.“Became one of only four Power 5 players – and the only one from the ACC – to make six tackles with 1.5 sacks and 4.0 tackles for loss when he put up those numbers in the Hurricanes’ 14-12 overtime win over Virginia.• One of four Hurricanes in the last 18 seasons with at least six tackles, 1.5 sacks and 4.0 tackles for loss in a game.• Led Miami to a dominant defensive performance that allowed just 12 points and zero touchdowns across regulation and four overtimes.”SPECIALIST – Andres Borregales, Miami, PK, Miami, Fla.“Became just the eighth ACC kicker in the last two seasons to make four-plus field goals in a game without a miss when he went 4-for-4 in Saturday’s 14-12 win overtime win over Virginia • Hit a game-tying field goal at the end of regulation to send the game to overtime• Hit two field goals in overtime to continue the contest, one from 42 yards and the other—in a must-make situation—from 37 yards • All four of his made kicks came as time expired – to end the first half, to end the second half, in the first overtime and in the second overtime.• Sent his lone kickoff into the end zone for a touchback.”"

During his weekly press conference on Monday, Miami head coach Mario Cristobal stated that Darrell Jackson and Taylor have asserted themselves as the clear first-team DTs for Miami. Taylor is tied for the Miami football team lead among DL in TFLs with Mesidor and is third on the Hurricanes in sacks this season.

Borregales leads Miami with 67 points. The four field goals on Saturday put Borregales three field goals and four attempts behind his pace as a true freshman in 2021. Borregales had made 82.4 percent of his field goal attempts this season after making 81 percent during the 2021 season.
