The Miami basketball team will play Maryland in the 2022 Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament Championship Game on Sunday. Miami defeated Providence 74-64 on Saturday for the 700th win of head coach Jim Larranaga’s career. Most Miami fans were watching the football team lose to Clemson while the basketball team won.

The Miami basketball team had an impressive performance against Providence taking the lead about halfway through the first half and never trailing after that. Maryland defeated St. Louis 95-67 on Saturday. Norchad Omier led Miami with 19 points and 11 rebounds in their win over Providence.

Maryland has started their season 4-0 under Kevin Willard who is in his first season coaching the Terrapins. Willard is the first Maryland head to coach to start his career with the Terrapins 4-0 since H. Burton Shipley in 1923-24. Four Maryland players average in double figures led by Donta Scott at 15.0 points per game.

Scott is second on Maryland averaging 6.5 rebounds. Julian Reese is second on Maryland averaging 12.3 PPG and 7.8 RPG. Maryland and Miami are evenly matched. A big difference separating Maryland and Miami is the 5.7 blocked shots Maryland averages versus only three per game for Miami.
