The Miami football program has offered 2021 top 100 recruit and Oregon transfer offensive lineman Bram Walden. Mario Cristobal signed Walden with Oregon in the class of 2021 after he committed to the Ducks in May of 2020. Walden was the 85th-ranked player, 10th tackle and second in the state of Arizona in 2021.

Walden took a redshirt as a true freshman in 2021 after not playing in any games and reportedly received only eight snaps over two games this season. The official Oregon roster lists Walden at 6’3, 304 pounds. Duck Territory, the 247 Sports Oregon site praised Walden for his athleticism and mean streak on the OL.

Walden initially announced his intention to enter the transfer portal on Saturday. Offensive linemen Jonathan Denis and Logan Sagopolu followed Cristobal to Miami during the 2022 off-season. Several other intriguing former Oregon players are currently in the transfer portal.

Linebacker Justin Flowe and wide receiver Dont’e Thornton are two of Cristobal’s former Oregon signees who will be among the most sought-after transfers for 2023. Cristobal has made the OL a priority since being hired at Miami nearly a year ago. The Miami football team was inconsistent upfront throughout the 2022 season

Miami returns four of the five players who started on the OL in the season finale versus Pittsburgh. Senior D.J. Scaife played his last game for Miami against Pittsburgh. Miami had multiple injuries on the OL in 2022 that severely hindered continuity for the Hurricanes this season.

Miami would be taking a risk with Walden. Walden missed most of the last two seasons because of a knee injury. Miami played the entire 2022 season without three-year starting left tackle Zion Nelson who was out with his own injury. Justice Olasawaseun and Jalen Rivers who started the season at guard also missed time.

Miami has five players committed in the 2023 class on the offensive line. That includes five-star tackle Francis Mauigoa. Miami is also leading for five-star OT Samson Okunlola. The Hurricanes could look to add experience on the offensive line through the transfer portal during the 2023 offseason.
