The defensive line for the Miami football program took another hit with tackle Jordan Miller entering the transfer portal on Tuesday. Miller entering the transfer portal comes one day after starting defensive tackle Darrell Jackson announced his decision to leave Miami. Miller played in 48 games with two career starts for Miami.

After playing in one game as a true freshman in 2018, Miller had 60 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and three sacks in the last four seasons. In 2022 Miller had 18 tackles, three TFLs and one sack playing in all 12 Miami games. Miller is the fourth Miami DL to enter the 2023 transfer portal.

The Miami football program previously lost DT Allan Haye and DL Elijah Roberts in addition to Jackson and Miller. Miami has commitments from four-star edge rushers Collins Acheampong and Jayden Wayne and three-star DT Joshua Horton in the class of 2023. Expect Miami to target several DL in the 2023 transfer portal.

Miami returns Jared Harrison-Hunte and starter Leonard Taylor at DT and starting edge rushers Jahfari Harvey and Akheem Mesidor in 2023. Miller was a fifth-year redshirt junior in 2022 who has one year of eligibility remaining. Miller redshirted in 2018 and received the extra year of eligibility due to covid in 2020.

Miami signed Miller in 2018 as the 1,246th ranked player, 86th DT and 192nd in Florida out of Jacksonville Sandalwood. Miller was a consistent rotational player for Miami in each of the last four seasons. Miller produced double-digit tackles in each of the last four seasons and multiple TFLs in three of the last four.

Tennessee and Virginia were the only Power Five programs to offer Miller out of high school. Both the Volunteers and Cavaliers have new staffs since Miller went through the recruiting process six years ago. Miller loses depth, experience and a leader with the decision by Miller to enter the transfer portal.
