Hayes Fawcett of On3 reported that five-star offensive tackle Samson Okunlola will announce his college commitment on December 15 at 4 PM ET at Thayer Academy where he attends. The Miami football program is still favored to receive a commitment from Okunlola. Five-star OT Francis Mauigoa is committed to Miami.

Okunlola is the 16th-rated player, third OT and first in Massachusetts per the On3 consensus rankings. The recruitment of Okunlola is projected to be between Miami and Florida. Miami has a 67.7 percent chance for a commitment from Okunlola and Florida 28.6 percent per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Okunlola has crystal balls from 247 Sports national analysts Brian Dohn and Steve Wiltfong that project the pancake honcho to commit to Miami. Signing Mauigoa and Okunlola would create the best OL for Miami in the era that recruitments have been tracked and give the Hurricanes bookend tackles for at least three years.

Before his commitment next Thursday, Okunlola is taking an official visit to Florida this weekend. Okunola took official visits to Alabama, Miami and Michigan State in June. The Crimson Tide and Spartans appear to be out of the recruitment for Okunlola. Okunlola is 6’5, 305 pounds with a 6’10.5 wingspan.

Okunlola has shown athleticism at Thayer Academy by playing defensive and offensive lines and throwing the discus and shotput and wrestling. Dohn projects Okunlola as a future first-round NFL Draft pick in his 247 Sports scouting report. A commitment from Okunlola would move Miami into the top five classes nationally.

Miami currently has the eighth-ranked 2023 class. Ohio State is fifth, followed by LSU and Oklahoma in the 247 Sports composite class rankings. Mario Cristobal and his staff are continuing to push for a top-five class with several highly sought-after recruits still to announce their commitments this month.
