The 2023 Miami football class moved up to seventh passing Oklahoma with the commitment of four-star running back Christopher Johnson on Sunday. Miami could move up to third by the end of the week with commitments from offensive tackle Samson Okunlola on Thursday and defensive lineman Rueben Bain on Friday.

The Miami football program is projected with a 64.2 percent chance for a commitment from Okunlola by On3 and has  247 Sports crystal balls from national experts Brian Dohn and Steve Wiltfong projecting the five-star prospect to commit to the Hurricanes. Miami has a 69.1 percent chance for a commitment from Bain.

All nine 247 Sports crystal balls project Miami to receive a commitment from Bain. Commitments from Bain and Okunlola this week would give Miami 291.80 recruiting points per the 247 Sports calculator. That would put Miami only behind Alabama and Georgia in the 2023 recruiting class rankings.

A commitment from Okunlola on Thursday would provide Miami with two five-star OTs. Miami currently has a commitment from five-star OT Francis Mauigoa. Bain is a versatile DL who has 114 tackles, 80 tackles for loss and 55 sacks in his high school career. At 6’3 249 pounds, Bain played mostly on the edge in high school.

Several projections have Bain moving inside to play defensive tackle in college. Johnson is the 23rd 2023 Miami commit. Miami could sign up to 30 players in their 2023 class plus another 10 to 15 additional transfers. Mario Cristobal and his staff are putting together stocked with blue-chip commits.

Miami currently has two five-star commits with Mauigoa and cornerback Cormani McClain, 10 four-star prospects and 11 three-stars. Several other prospects are strongly considering Miami. Recruits to watch are four-star CB Damari Brown who On3 projects to Miami at 89.8 percent and running back Mark Fletcher.
