Recruiting sites differ where 4-star CB Damari Brown will commit

The three major recruiting sites differ about which program four-star cornerback Damari Brown will commit to. Brown has two 247 Sports crystal balls projecting him to commit to Alabama and one to Miami. The On3 recruiting prediction machine projects Miami with a 69.1 percent chance for a Brown commitment.

Rivals.Com lists Miami with a 100 percent chance for a commitment from Brown.  Chris Nee of Noles247, the Florida State Insider and  Steve Wiltfong the 247Sports Director of Football Recruiting logged their crystal balls for Brown in the last week. Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U gave Brown a Miami crystal ball in September.

Damari Brown is the 185th-ranked prospect, 22nd CB and 42nd recruit in Florida in the class of 2023 in the 247 Sports composite rankings. The On3 sports consensus rankings have Brown 195th, 24th and 43rd. Brown is ranked much lower by Rivals as the 71st-ranked player in Florida and 46th CB in the class of 2023.

ESPN ranks Brown as the 112th-ranked player nationally, 11th CB and 28th-rated prospect in Florida. Miami currently holds commitments at CB from five-star prospect Cormani McClain and four-stars Antione Jackson and Robert Stafford. Jackson is often listed as a safety. Miami is also pursuing Brown’s brother Davonte.

Davonte Brown is a transfer from UCF who is listed as the 20th-ranked transfer CB by On3. The Browns played in high school at American Heritage. Four-star running back Mark Fletcher who committed to Miami on Sunday is also from American Heritage. Miami has been hot on the recruiting trail in the last week.

The Hurricanes received five commitments in the late week. Four-star running back Chris Johnson began the Miami hot streak on December 11. Four-star defensive lineman Rueben Bain committed on Wednesday followed by offensive linemen Samson Okulola and Javion Cohen and RB Mark Fletcher on Sunday.

Cohen is a transfer from Alabama with 22 career starts. The early national signing period is from Wednesday through Friday. Transfers can continue entering the portal through January 18. Miami has contacted several other transfers including Davonte Brown and had some visits since the portal opened on December 5.
