Three-star offensive tackle signee Tommy Kinsler was named the representative from the Miami football 2023 class in a 247 Sports article examining “College football recruiting: One under the radar prospect from each Power Five conference team’s signing class” written by Will Backus.
Kinsler is the 554th ranked player, 43rd interior offensive lineman and 96th prospect in Florida out of Ocala Trinity Catholic. Kinsler is one of five OL signed by the Miami football program in the class of 2023. The Hurricanes 2023 OL class is anchored by five-star offensive tackles Francis Mauigoa and Samson Okunlola.
Kinsler signed with Miami after also taking official visits to Florida, Florida State and Rutgers all in June. The 247 Sports scouting report from Andrew Ivins of 247 Sports stated Kinsler played left and right tackle as a junior as well as playing on the defensive line. As a sophomore in 2020, Kinsler primarily played left guard.
Kinsler was a starter for Trinity with Garner Langlo who signed with Auburn, Caleb Johnson (not the Miami linebacker) who went to Notre Dame and Jake Slaughter of Florida. Kinsler adds depth for Miami but will not likely play much as a true freshman. Miami could redshirt Kinsler in 2023.
Miami football 2023 signees: Tommy Kinsler 2022 highlights
"Miami — Tommy Kinsler, IOL (88): Kinsler played both right and left tackle at Ocala (Fla.) Trinity Catholic High School, but his collegiate future is on the inside with a massive 6-foot-6, 330-pound frame. He needs a couple years to develop, but this is a very good in-state get for Mario Cristobal."
Kinsler is the third highest-rated OL signee in the 2023 Miami class behind Mauigoa and Okunlola. Miami also signed interior OL Antonio Tripp and OT Frankie Tinilau who could eventually be moved inside at 6’5, 315 pounds. The five OL signed by Miami are one of the best positions groups in the 2023 class.
Offensive line coach Alex Mirabal finished as the seventh best recruiter in the 2023 cycle. Head coach Mario Cristobal and Mirabal are highly regarded nationally coaching the OL. The former high schools teammates should continue to make an impact signing elite OL for the Miami football program.
