Expectations hopeful but ambigous pre Cormani McClain Jan 15 announcement
Five-star cornerback Cormani McClain remains committed to the Miami football program ahead of his January 15 announcement. The college destination for Cormani McClain has remained ambiguous since he skipped his own National Signing Day ceremony last month. McClain does not speak to the media often.
During the Under Armour All-American on Tuesday night, Cormani McClain reiterated his commitment to Miami. Speculation following the interview centered on the body language McClain had during the interview. There has been some focus that McClain was not completely honest during the interview.
Speculation is the key world surrounding the McClain recruitment. Alabama, Colorado and Florida are thought to be the other programs in the running for a National Letter of Intent from McClain. Because McClain does not speak to the media often his intentions or top schools have been speculated by recruiting analysts.
When asked by the Under Armour Game sideline reporter Matt Chick about which schools are still i the running to sign him McClain laughed and said Miami. That is what led to the skepticism about McClain signing with Miami. When asked if Miami was the only school he is considering he replied “that’s it.”
McClain is the second-highest-rated prospect, top CB and number-one recruit in the state of Florida in the class of 2023. When McClain committed to Miami in October, Florida was the prohibitive favorite. No 247 Sports crystal balls have been logged for McClain since he committed to Miami in October.
On3 and Rivals also project(ed) McClain to Florida. Miami seems to be the favorite ahead of the (re)commitment announcement on January 15. With McClain, Miami has the fourth highest-rated 2023 class per the 247 Sports composite rankings. Without McClain, Miami would drop to the fifth-ranked 2023 class.
Four-star 2023 Miami signee Robert Stafford stated at the Under Armour game that he was recruiting McClain for the Hurricanes. Miami also signed Damari Brown and Antione Jackson in the 2023 class as projected CBs. Davante Brown, Damari’s brother is transferring from Central Florida to Miami.
