The Miami football program is in a seven-way tie for 25th at +15,000 to win the 2023 national championship in odds released by Fan Duel. Florida is one of the other seven schools listed by Fan Duel at 15,000 to 1. Clemson leads ACC teams and is sixth nationally at +1,600 to win the 2023 national championship.

Two-time defending national champion Georgia is the favorite to win the 2023 national championship at +300, with Alabama at +600 and Ohio State at +700. Florida State is the second-highest ACC team and tops in the Sunshine State at +1,200. Miami began the 2022 season at +8,220 to win the national championship.

Oklahoma was the only team ranked higher than Miami at +4,800 entering the 2022 season to finish with a losing record. Georgia entered the 2022 season third at +380 to win the national championship only behind Alabama and Ohio State. National runner-up TCU entered 2022 at +23,000 to win the national championship.

Miami signed the fourth-best 2023 class and has added six transfers to its roster. More roster changes will occur throughout the 2023 off-season. Expect Miami to lose players to the transfer portal following spring practice. Miami will likely add several transfers between now and the spring.

Texas A&M at +8,000 is the only team besides Clemson and Florida State on the 2023 Miami football schedule ranked ahead of the Hurricanes in national championship odds. Winning games they are favored would be an accomplishment for the Miami football program after several demoralizing 2022 losses.

Georgia, Alabama and Ohio State being the top three teams is not surprising. The Bulldogs, Crimson Tide and Buckeyes have dominated college football for the last 15 years. Georgia has surpassed Alabama as the current elite college football program. Those four have combined to win 11 of the last 14 national championships.

Until another program breaks through to win the national title and shows the ability to consistently be a contender Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State will continue to be elite. Clemson is still an excellent program but has not performed up to the standards they set in the late 2010s.

Mario Cristobal has Miami beginning to trend in the right direction with a top-five class. Miami has to continue signing elite talent every year and add more through the transfer portal. The Hurricanes were missing a game-changing player in 2022. Someone has to emerge as Miami as a game-changer in 2023.
