The Miami Hurricanes football team is targeting transfer wide receivers Damien Alford from Syracuse and Gary Bryant from USC and the basketball program earned a 78-62 win over Boston College in the big news from Wednesday. Bryant is scheduled to visit the Miami Hurricanes this weekend per Greg Biggins of 247 Sports.

Alford would provide Miami with a big presence as an outside receiver at 6’6 and 211 pounds. Alford has improved in each of his three seasons at Syracuse. Bryant had a breakout 2021 season before redshirting after playing in only three games this season. Alford should have two seasons of eligibility remaining and Bryant two.

Update: Alford has withdrawn his name from the transfer portal

The Miami basketball team recovered from its loss at Georgia Tech last week with an 88-72 win over Boston College at the Watsco Center on Wednesday night. Isaiah Wong led Miami with 22 points, Norchad Omier had his seventh double-double and Harlond Beverly had his highest point total in three years with 15.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald examined several incoming players on the Miami football roster. Among the stats that stood out were that transfer offensive linemen Javion Cohen and Matt Lee did not allow a sack in 876 combined snaps in 2022 and their quarterbacks were only pressured 10 times.

Defenders blocked by Cohen and Lee pressured the QB only 1.1 percent of the time per Jackson. Lee is expected to beat out returning starter Jakai Cohen at center for Miami per most analysts. Cohen is projected to be one of the guards for Miami likely opposite Jalen Rivers who is returning after an injury-plagued 2022 season.
