The Miami football program added their seventh transfer of the 2022-23 offseason with Oregon tight end Cam McCormick. McCormick is highly regarded as a blocker and red zone threat as he enters his eighth season of college football. In 2022 McCormick had 10 receptions for 66 yards and three touchdowns.

McCormick signed with Oregon in the class of 2016 and was on the Ducks’ roster in all four seasons that Mario Cristobal was head coach. Injuries caused McCormick to miss the entire 2019 and 2020 seasons, play one game in 2018 and two in 2021 before season-ending injuries. McCormick has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

The NCAA granted McCormick medical redshirts for all the time he missed. McCormick had a 71.6 pass-blocking grade and 66.6 in run blocking by Pro Football Focus per Gaby Urrutia of Inside the U. McCormick gives the Miami football program good size at tight end listed at 6’5, 259 pounds on the Oregon website.

Throughout his entire college career, McCormick has recorded 18 receptions for 169 yards and four TDs. McCormick provides Miami with experience in what is otherwise a young TE group. Elijah Arroyo and Jaleel Skinner are the expected top TEs for Miami in 2023. Arroyo is entering his third season but missed most of 2022 with an injury.

Skinner led the TEs on the 2023 Miami roster in 2022 with nine receptions for 129 yards and one TD. Arroyo had five for 66 before his season-ending knee injury. Khalil Brantley and Dominic Mammarelli add blocking and depth for Miami in 2023. Miami also signed Jackson Carver and Riley Williams in the 2023 class.

Williams should challenge for playing time in 2023 while Carver is more of a long-term project for Miami who will add depth in 2023. McCormick is the third transfer to follow Cristobal from Oregon to Coral Gables. Miami added offensive linemen Jonathan Denis and Logan Sagopolu during the 2022 offseason.

Next. Miami is good fir for Alabama transfer WR Tyler Harrell. dark

McCormick was the 544th prospect, 25th TE and fourth player in Oregon in the 2016 class. Miami has previously added offensive linemen Javion Cohen from Alabama and center Matt Lee from Central Florida as transfers on offense. The Hurricanes have added four transfers on defense for 2023.
