Miami Hurricanes News: Francis Mauigoa praised, 5-star WR trending
Five-star offensive tackle signee Francis Mauigoa showed why he is the top player for the Miami Hurricanes in their 2023 class throughout the week of practice at the Polynesian Bowl that was played Friday. Several recruiting sites named Mauigoa to their mythical awards during the week and after the game on Friday.
Mauigoa will be an anchor for the Miami Hurricanes on the offensive line and likely leader for the future of the program. Miami needs to keep building top 10 recruiting classes to first be a contender in the ACC. The Hurricanes are trending for five-star wide receiver Joshisa Trader per recruiting sites 247 Sports and On3.
Mauigoa was named the Alpha Dog early in the week of practice by 247 Sports and Woody Womack of Rivals.Com labeled the five-star OT as the player to “leave no doubt” about where he fits in the conversation about the elite players in the 2023 class after his performance during Polynesian Bowl week.
Trader who would be a cornerstone commit for the Miami Hurricanes in the 2024 class is the 11th-ranked player, second athlete and fifth player in Florida per 247 Sports. Steve Wiltfong the 247Sports Director of Football Recruiting logged a Miami Hurricanes crystal ball for Trader on Saturday.
Miami is also trending for Trader with a 50.7 percent chance for a commitment per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Ohio State is trending second for Trader with a 43.6 percent chance for a commitment per On3. The news for Trader occurred while he was competing at the seven-on-seven Battle Miami.
David Lake of Inside the U profiled other prospects in “Five players that impressed during Saturday’s Battle Miami 7v7 Tournament.” With most top 2023 prospects signed, the recruiting focus will turn to 2024 for high school players. Ten of the top 40 players in the 2024 class are from Florida.
Lake highlighted three WRs and two cornerbacks in his top five at Battle Miami. That included WRs Chance Robinson and Jeremiah Smith who are teammates of Trader on the South Florida express. Smith and Trader are also teammates at Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna. The 2024 class will be interesting to monitor.
