Miami Hurricanes News: Football adds transfer, hoops at FSU
The Miami football program added their eighth transfer to the 2023 roster with Iowa cornerback Terry Roberts tweeting on Monday he joined the Hurricanes. The Miami Hurricanes basketball team plays its second straight road game on Tuesday at Florida State. Miami fell in both basketball national polls on Monday.
Roberts transfers to the Miami Hurricanes after five seasons at Iowa. The addition of Roberts is critical for depth after Miami lost eight defensive backs following the 2022 season. Expect Roberts to be in the top four at CB with Te’Cory Couch, Darryl Porter Jr. and Central Florida transfer Davonte Brown.
The Miami basketball team will seek to end a nine-game losing streak versus Florida State on Tuesday night in Tallahassee. Miami enters the game on Tuesday night 15-4 and Florida State is 6-13. The Hurricanes are in a five-way tie for third place in the ACC with a 6-3 conference record.
The Miami Basketball team fell to 20th in the Associated Press Top 25 and 19th in the USA Today Coaches poll on Monday. After playing at Pittsburgh on Saturday Miami will finish the season with six of its last nine games at home. A top-four finish in the ACC will result in a double-bye in the conference tournament.
Kamren Kinchens continued his accolades from the 2022 season grading out as the best safety in college football by Pro Football Focus. Kinchens was a consensus first-team All-American in 2022. Expect Kinchens to be a cornerstone of the Miami Hurricanes defense in 2023. Miami needs the rest of the defense to raise its level.
Defensive tackle Leonard Taylor shows the ability to be All-American at times last season. Taylor needs more consistency in 2023. In 2022, Taylor had 24 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss and three sacks. Taylor dominated Virginia with six tackles, four TFLs and 1.5 sacks. Taylor also had four games with one tackle and no TFLs.
