Miami Hurricanes News: No OC news, Hoops collapse at Pittsburgh
A day after firing offensive coordinator Josh Gattis all is quiet about any potential replacements. Speculation was vast about potential replacement following Gattis being fired on Friday. The Miami Hurricanes basketball team was on the verge of victory at Pittsburgh on Saturday but was outscored 11-0 in the last two minutes.
With the firing of Gattis behind them expect head coach Mario Cristobal to keep the new Miami offensive coordinator under wraps until a hire is made. Cristobal has been notorious keeping news in-house since he was hired as head coach in December 2021. Former UNLV head coach Marcus Arroyo is a name to watch.
The Miami Hurricanes basketball team led 68-60 with 2:28 remaining on a Norchad Omier dunk. Pittsburgh answered 26 seconds later with a Federiko Federiko Dunk that sparked the 11-0 run. Miami had three turnovers in the final 39 seconds to cement the loss versus Pittsburgh. Miami falls to 16-5 overall and 7-4 in the ACC.
Alex Donno of All Hurricanes and Locked On Canes was asked in his mailbag who the best OC hire would be for Miami. Donno prefers former Florida and Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen as the OC and quarterbacks coach with former Miami OC James Coley returning to Coral Gables as the wide receivers coach.
The news about Gattis being fired was discussed by college football media outlets nationally. ESPN reported the firing of Gattis nationally, an Iowa site wonders if he could be a candidate to be their OC and our Michigan partner site GBM Wolverine discussed Gattis being fired a year after he left Ann Arbor.
The Miami women’s basketball team goes for its seventh win in the last eight games when they play Sunday at 2 PM at Wake Forest. Miami is 13-7 overall, 6-3 in the ACC tied for fourth place in the conference with North Carolina. Wake Forest is 12-9, 3-7 and tied with Virginia for 11th place in the ACC.
