Miami Hurricanes News: Football spring, fall schedules and Hoops vs VA Tech
The Miami football program released its 2023 spring schedule on Monday followed by the ACC announcing the entire 2023 schedule. Miami opens the 2023 season versus Miami (Ohio) on Friday, September 1. Spring practice begins on March 4. The Miami Hurricanes basketball team hosts Virginia Tech on Tuesday.
The game versus Miami (Ohio) is one of two Friday games for Miami in 2023 plus a Thursday game. Miami hosts Bethune-Cookman on Thursday, September 14 and at Boston College on Black Friday, November 24. The Hurricanes are off the weekend of September 30. Miami is at Florida State on November 11.
The Hurricanes will conduct Spring Practice on a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday rotation. Miami will play its Spring Game on Friday, April 14 at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. The Friday night Spring Game is new and likely tied to scheduling by the ACC Network. Miami will have a lot of questions entering spring practice.
The Miami basketball team hosts Virginia Tech on Tuesday night hoping to bounce back from a late-game collapse at Pittsburgh on Saturday. Miami led 68-60 with about two minutes left before Pittsburgh closed the game on an 11-0 run for a 71-68 win. Miami has opened as a 10.5-point favorite over Virginia Tech per Fan Duel.

David Lake of Inside the U wrote an “Instant Reaction: Five takeaways on Miami’s 2023 football schedule.” Three topics from Lake stood out. The Miami Hurricanes have eight days after the season opener before hosting Texas A&M. Hopefully that will help the Miami football staff prepare for the rematch from 2022.
The Hurricanes’ bye week before beginning ACC play for the second straight season and the final game on November 24 at Boston College were discussed by Lake. Miami opens ACC play versus Georgia Tech on October 7. Playing at Boston College in late fall will be a challenge for Miami. Clemson plays at Miami on October 21.
