The Miami football team has the sixth toughest 2023 schedule in the ACC as analyzed by Brad Crawford of 247 Sports. ACC Football schedules were released on Monday night. Teams previously knew their 2023 opponents. The ACC released the full order of games to be played in 2023 in a two-hour special on Monday night.
The full schedule released was televised on the ACC Network. Miami begins the 2023 season on Friday, September 1 versus Miami (Ohio) at Hard Rock Stadium. The RedHawks are the first of two Friday games on the Hurricanes 2023 schedule and one of three-weekday games for the Miami football program.
Miami will host Bethune-Cookman on Thursday, September 14 and play at Boston College on Friday, November 24, the day after Thanksgiving. Other highlights of the 2023 Miami football schedule are at Texas A&M on September 9, a bye the weekend of September 30, Clemson on October 21 and at Florida State on November 11.
Miami has one non-conference road game on September 23 at Temple. Miami comes off its bye on October 7 and hosts Georgia Tech. Winning at least three of their four non-conference games with the potential for emerging with wins in all four would allow Miami to improve on their 2-2 2022 non-conference record.
"6. MIAMI HURRICANES2023 schedule: Miami (Ohio), Texas A&M, Bethune Cookman, at Temple, Georgia Tech, at UNC, Clemson, Virginia, at NC State, at Florida State, Louisville, at Boston College. The word: Mario Cristobal did not find immediate success with the Hurricanes last season during a five-win spiral, but needs to show some advancement on the field this fall. That starts with, at worst, a 3-1 showing in the non-conference slate to begin the campaign with the only “tough” opponent being Texas A&M.From there, once the ACC slate begins against Georgia Tech, there’s no let up for the Hurricanes. Miami will likely be betting underdogs in at least three conference matchups (at UNC, Clemson, Florida State), but do have a better roster than most of the competition the Hurricanes will face this season.Figuring things out at quarterback is vital early in the season, along with getting off on the right foot against the Aggies in Week 2. If Miami can establish early confidence with a win over Texas A&M, perhaps the Hurricanes can fast-track their way back to respectability as a top-25 team."
Crawford reasoned that North Carolina has the toughest schedule in the ACC. The Tar Heels open versus South Carolina in Charlotte and also play against Appalachian State and Minnesota in non-conference. North Carolina hosts Miami, plays at Clemson, North Carolina State and Pittsburgh, but does not play Florida State.
Duke, Pittsburgh, Florida State and Virginia in order are the other four teams Crawford expects to have tougher schedules than Miami among ACC teams. Florida State begins the season in Orlando versus LSU and plays at Clemson, Pittsburgh and Florida later in the season. Miami and Pittsburgh do not play this season.
The new ACC Football schedule has eliminated divisions. Miami will play Boston College, Florida State and Louisville annually. Miami has not played Boston College since losing in Chestnut Hill in 2018. Louisville lost to Miami at home in 2020. Playing well in non-conference will be critical to setting a foundation for the 2023 season.
