Miami Hurricanes News: Hoops big win, National FB schedule analysis
The Miami Hurricanes basketball team pulled away late behind heroics from Nijel Pack in a 92-83 win over Virginia Tech. After the ACC released its 2023 football schedule on Monday, national analysts David H. Hale of ESPN and Brad Crawford and Josh Pate of 247 Sports all had thoughts on the 2023 Miami football team.
Pack scored 17 points in the final 7:35 seconds as Miami rallied down the stretch to defeat Virginia Tech. Those were all of the points Pack scored on Tuesday night. Miami improved to 17-5 overall and 8-4 in the ACC. The Miami Hurricanes moved into a virtual tie for fourth place in the ACC with 7-3 North Carolina.
Miami will begin its 2023 season on Friday, September 1 versus Miami (Ohio). The Hurricanes have a bye the weekend of September 30 following the completion of its non-conference schedule a week prior at Temple. Highlights of the ACC schedule include October 21 versus Clemson and November 11 at Florida State.
In a video released this week, Pate expects Miami to be one of the surprise teams nationally in 2023. Pate discussed a variety of topics and tweeted the importance of the offensive coordinator hire for Miami Cristobal. Auburn and Oklahoma were among the other programs that Pate expects to have bounce-back seasons.

Crawford highlighted the Miami games versus Clemson, at Florida State and at North Carolina as games Miami will likely be underdogs in. Crawford fairly stated that Miami needs to win at least three of its four non-conference games. Miami has one of the most talented rosters in the ACC and improvement is expected in 2023.
Hale likes how the first five games of the 2023 season set up for Miami. Miami is likely to be favored in all four non-conference games plus the ACC season opener versus North Carolina. A 5-0 start would at least alleviate some of the sour taste everyone that follows Miami had of the 2023 season.
The traditional National Signing Day is Wednesday. Four-star athlete Nyckoles Harbor who is projected as a big wide receiver or tight end and three-star defensive lineman Jamel Howard are reportedly the only players Miami is involved with late. Harbor is trending to Oregon and Howard to Michigan.
Miami is not expected to add any more players to the 2023 seventh-ranked class. Expect more transfers added to the 2023 Miami Hurricanes football roster particularly when the spring window opens from May 1 through the 15. Miami will be able to better recruit players when the offensive staff is finalized.
