Strong shared the DC responsibilities with Kevin Steele who left for the same position at Alabama on Sunday night. Strong is the fourth assistant coach that will not return to the Miami football program in 2023. Miami previously lost quarterbacks coach Frank Ponce and fired offensive coordinator Josh Gattis.

That included four-star defensive back Antione Jackson who asked for a release of his National Letter of Intent.

David Lake of Inside the U examined the five teams on the 2023 Miami football schedule that changed the most via the transfer portal this offseason. Lake listed Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville and North Carolina in the ACC and non-conference opponent Texas A&M. Georgia Tech, Louisville and Texas A&M are at home.

The Miami Rivals site Canes County listed potential replacements for Strong as linebacker coach.
