The Miami Hurricanes basketball team continues to roll winning its fifth straight game 80-72 at North Carolina on Monday night. David Lake of Inside the U examined “Five young Hurricanes that can provide a big boost in 2023 by taking the next step in development.” Locked on Canes discussed the offensive coordinator timetable.

After leading 35-34 at halftime, the Miami basketball team outscored North Carolina 17-6 to start the second half. The biggest lead for Miami in the second half was 14 before North Carolina cut the deficit to four with 36 seconds left. Miami made seven of eight free throws after that to secure the win.

Lake listed cornerback Chris Graves, defensive back Markeith Williams, edge rusher Nyjalik Kelly, linebacker Chase Smith and running back Tre’Vonte Citizen as the five young Hurricanes ready to take the next step. Kelly was the biggest contributor in 2022 among the five with 11 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and four sacks.

Former Miami quarterback Malik Rosier appeared on Locked on Canes on Monday hosted by Alex Donno to discuss the timetable about how much time the new Miami offensive coordinator will need to implement his system. Rosier conveyed to us via Twitter on Sunday the ideal timetable is before the end of February.

The Miami Hurricanes football team starts spring practice on March 4 OC hire would not provide much time to get acclimated. As Rosier points out Miami still needs to hire linebacker, quarterback and wide receiver coaches. The new Miami OC will likely coach the QBs as well. Some projections have hiring finished this week.
