Miami added pieces to the project from the high school ranks with transfers Davonte Brown and Terry Roberts. The pieces are on the board and it’s up to Guidry to decide how he will move them. Coming up second will be the long-awaited hire of Shannon Dawson as offensive coordinator.
Miami fans waited for what seemed like forever to get an answer at offensive coordinator, and on Valentine’s Day, Mario Cristobal showed Miami fans some love with news of the Dawson hire breaking. Dawson is a former quarterback that has been coaching for a little over twenty years.
Dawson has held various offensive coaching positions at Southeastern Louisiana, Millsaps, Stephen F Austin, West Virginia, Kentucky, Southern Mississippi, and Houston. With his offensive mindset resembling the air raid with power-spread elements, Dawson can utilize the arm of Tyler Van Dyke this upcoming season.

Dawson can also let the promising running back room carry some of the load. It is likely to expect Cristobal to find a new RBs coach that will complement Dawson’s scheme and tendencies as a play caller. Having an offensive coordinator that has coached every position but RBs is a key component that could be overlooked.
The routes Dawson implements in his play calling are not just exclusive to the receivers. Every player is going to be playing a role in this new Miami offense under Dawson. With an expansion of offensive philosophy, it could very well be up to the players to soak it all in. Lastly LBs coach Nicholson.
