Nicholson is a Florida State alumnus who has coached for Akron, Alcorn State, Southern Mississippi, and most recently, Louisville. With NFL experience playing LB, Nicholson brings a new perspective on the position of coaching.

At 36 years old, it will definitely be a different experience for the players, as Charlie Strong was in his early sixties while coaching for the U. Nicholson brings a leave-it-all-out-on-the-line mindset to the players, which for years, has been something this linebacker group has been missing.

It should be interesting to see how Nicholson shapes the young linebacker group this upcoming season, and if they can finally balance their pass coverage and run support. Altogether, these coaching hires were, for the most part, under-the-radar names that most fans hadn’t heard of before they were announced.

Most fans expected Cristobal to make waves with the names he would bring in, like last year. That doesn’t seem to be the case this time around. It looks as if Cristobal is going for schemes that fit this team rather than coaching names that are circulating around.

With the spring football schedule rapidly approaching, there are still names that might move on to other places, and other names that already have. It should be intriguing to find out Cristobal’s answer for the wide receivers and running backs coaches, as both didn’t perform up to par in 2022.
