The Miami basketball team moved from 15th to 13th in the AP Top 25 and 13th to 11th in the USA Today Coaches poll. Miami continues to hold its highest ranking in the national polls since the Hurricanes were sixth nationally on December 18th, 2017. The Hurricanes have won their last six games.

This is the third week in a row the Miami basketball team has risen in the polls. Miami had previously fallen in the polls for three consecutive weeks after losing games on three straight Saturdays in January. Miami won 80-72 at North Carolina last Monday and 96-87 at home versus Wake Forest on Saturday.

Miami received 833 points in the AP Poll. Gonzaga is 12th nationally, just 23 points ahead of Miami. The Hurricanes are comfortably ahead of number 14 Kansas State who dropped two spots from last week with 666 points. Miami has 437 points in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Number 10 Baylor has 512 points.

Gonzaga is slightly behind Miami in the USA Today Coaches Poll with 431 points. Miami is the second highest ranked team in the ACC behind Virginia who is sixth nationally in both polls. Virginia received 1,228 points in the AP Top 25 and 638 points, including one first-place vote in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

The Miami basketball team was the only one in the top 25 from last week that did not receive a projected top-four seed from the NCAA Tournament committee on Saturday. Those seedings are just an indication of who the top four seeds would be in each region if the brackets were released on Saturday.

Committee chair Chris Reynolds stated that Miami was one of the teams just on the outside of the Top 16 that included Creighton, Saint Mary’s and UConn. Jeff Eisenberg of Yahoo Sports named Miami as one of the biggest snubs. Miami has a big opportunity to improve its Net Rating on Tuesday at Virginia Tech.
