Miami football connections among top 10 available transfers
The Miami football program has several connections among the”College football transfer portal 2023: Georgia CB Jaheim Singletary highlights 10 best-available players.” by Brad Crawford of 247 Sports. Singletary is the highest-rated transfer available and was signed at Georgia by current Miami secondary coach Jahmile Addae.
Singletary will be one of the most sought-after transfers. Georgia signed Singletary in the class of 2022 as the 27th-ranked prospect nationally, the fifth cornerback and the fifth player in Florida. Singletary took an unofficial visit with the Miami football program in July of 2021 with the previous Hurricanes’ staff.
Other players on the top 10 list by Crawford with connections to Miami are USC wide receiver Gary Bryant Jr. who is second, Georgia WR Dominick Blaylock who is fifth, seventh-ranked Florida defensive tackle Chris Thomas and Oklahoma defensive lineman Alton Tarber who is eighth.
Miami strongly recruited Singletary who visited Coral Gables in July 2021. With Addae on the Miami staff, Singletary might consider Miami. Singletary is expected to take his time making a decision about his next destination. Singletary signed with Georgia after originally committing to Ohio State and considering Clemson and Florida.
Bryant visited Miami and Texas A&M in January. Greg Biggins of 247 Sports reported at the time that he was told by Bryant’s father they wanted to take all five official visits before making a decision. Bryant was expected to take his time making a decision similar to Singletary. Miami needs to add one or two transfer WRs.
The loose connection for Miami with Blaylock is Addae coaching at Georgia. Although Addae was not Singletary’s position coach at Georgia, the receivers and secondary matched up every day in practice. Blaylock could also talk to his former Georgia teammate Tyrique Stevenson who transferred to Miami in 2021.
Thomas is an alum of Fort Myers Dunbar and attended junior day at Miami in 2020. Florida dismissed Thomas in June and head coach Billy Napier chose not to bring him back in 2023 under a new NCAA bylaw. Thomas returned in August and had one tackle versus Eastern Washington before entering the transfer portal.
Tarber who is from Deerfield Beach visited Miami in June 2021. Miami third-year rising sophomore WR Xavier Restrepo is also a Deerfield Beach alum. Tarber chose Oklahoma over Arkansas and Arizona State, Auburn and Georgia Tech. Miami has been successful in the transfer portal adding playing wanting to return to South Florida.
